History Channel's "The Story of Us" and Irony

I watched the first episode of this great documentary series on the history channel tonight. It covered events leading up to the revolutionary war and it dovetails nicely with a couple of books I recently read. I find it very ironic that an otherwise entertaining and excellent series covering information that should be required material for every citizen of this country was introduced/prefaced by a man that apparently has little understanding of, or reverence for, the material itself. The series was introduced by none other than his one-ness, The pResident, chairman zero.

Secondly, does anyone else find it odd that a sitting president is endorsing a History channel documentary like Marlin Perkins hawking Mutual of Omaha insurance? What is next, selling an energy drink or some sportswear?

Maybe he should watch it instead of reading a TelePrompTer script of what one of his handlers thought a true blue USA loving American would say... You know what a good President would have actually felt and thought...

2 weeks until Congressional elections...

I just received this E-Mail from Karin Hoffman, on behalf of DC works for US. I interrupted my post I was working on to write this as it is that important. The Florida District 19 special election is a big deal and let me explain why. This will be the first time that the American people will have had a chance to speak since the passage of Obamacare. You can donate time, funds or send this to your friends as even though this is a local race, it is a national story. Deconstructing our Progress to Communism Pt. II – Commerce Clause

   We the People are engaged in a battle over our future.  Are we going to remain a Constitutional Republic, or are we going to devolve in a communistic tyranny ruled by a politburo of non -representatives elected through sham elections like Iran, Cuba, Russia, or Venezuela?   Yesterday the focus was on the faulty premise that the “General Welfare” clause allows congress to legislate anything and everything under the sun.  Today’s focus is on another clause that our current would-be Kings and Queens in Washington think gives them the power usurp all authority reserved to the states or the people.  The “Commerce Clause”, Article I section 8.3 which reads:

[the congress shall have power…] “To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes”

The part of that statement which so much debate has been centered upon is “To regulate commerce…among the several states." Luckily we do not have to be confused as to what the framers meant, as they clearly laid out their intent in their writings.  reading their correspondence, there should be no debate at all what the proper understanding of those words should be. But as was pointed out yesterday, the small minority of our non-representatives who would hazard a guess as to where their unlimited power is derived from, will likely quote this clause.
Indeed Speaker Pelosi issued a press release on her website in September 2009 where she expressly said just that: Health Insurance Reform Daily Mythbuster: 'Constitutionality of Health Insurance Reform'

“…  But the Constitution gives Congress broad power to regulate activities that have an effect on interstate commerce.  Congress has used this authority to regulate many aspects of American life, from labor relations to education to health care to agricultural production. Since virtually every aspect of the heath care system has an effect on interstate commerce, the power of Congress to regulate health care is essentially unlimited.”

So according to this widely held interpretation these 16 words nullify the tenth amendment.  IF congress can regulate the commerce that goes on within a state because the prices and availability of a product or service in one state impacts the prices and availability in another, then there is literally no end to what they can control.  How convenient  for them.  This is clearly not what the founders meant. The original intent of the framers is clear.  Madison said to Cabell :

“For a like reason, I made no reference to the "power to regulate commerce among the several States." I always foresaw that difficulties might be started in relation to that power which could not be fully explained without recurring to views of it, which, however just, might give birth to specious though unsound objections. Being in the same terms with the power over foreign commerce, the same extent, if taken literally, would belong to it.

Yet it is very certain that it grew out of the abuse of the power by the importing States in taxing the non-importing, and was intended as a negative and preventive provision against injustice among the States themselves, rather than as a power to be used for the positive purposes of the General Government, in which alone, however, the remedial power could be lodged.”
Allow me to translate into more easily understood language. 
I did not refer to the "power to regulate commerce among the several States."  [in my response].  I purposefully left that part out because I always thought that in the future people would misunderstand the meaning unless it was  put into context.  If not, it would be too easy to extend this power to the same level as the power reserved to the federal government to regulate relationships with other nations.  It is very clear that this language grew out of an abuse of power by states that had ports and harbors against states that did not. The language was intended as a protection to keep one state from harming another by restricting its trade, not as an additional power given to the Federal government over the states; however, the Federal government is the only agency we could give this authority to, and so we did.

   Remember, until the mid 20th century any goods received from a foreign nation were received by ship.  This put States without ports and harbors at a serious disadvantage to states who did.  Imagine Kansas or Oklahoma's vulnerable situation if they had to pay taxes  on every product imported to every state that was crossed en route to the final destination.  imagine a ship from China delivering products to the port in Long Beach, CA en route to Kansas.  California could then charge tariffs to Kansas, and every state subsequently after that could charge both CA, and KS, as the product moved across their borders.  What a nightmare that would be.  This is the reasoning behind the Commerce Clause.  The purpose of the Commerce Clause was to keep this internal turmoil out of trade, to allow all the states to access shipping and receiving points.  This is further explained in Federalist #42, and Madison mentions that one of the reasons for this language’s inclusion into the constitution was because it was a noted weakness of the articles of Confederation as well as several Nations in Europe at the time.
It was meant as a restriction on states from harming other states, not to create an  all encompassing evil overlord Fedzilla government. 
Unfortunately over the years the courts have wavered back and forth on this issue and the most recent passing of the buck by the court has been this:
Garcia v. San Antonio Metropolitan Transit Authority, 469 U.S. 528 (1985),

Of course, we continue to recognize that the States occupy a special and specific position in our constitutional system and that the scope of Congress' authority under the Commerce Clause must reflect that position. But the principal and basic limit on the federal commerce power is that inherent in all congressional action—the built-in restraints that our system provides through state participation in federal governmental action. The political process ensures that laws that unduly burden the States will not be promulgated.

The recent Firearms Freedom laws are set to test this theory, but it is unlikely from the above decision they will. Folks, if we don’t like Pelosi et. al. view of things, we have to vote them out, because the courts are likely going to take a pass on this.  This may be one of the most important litmus tests on a prospective candidate, “what is your opinion regarding the proper role of the Fed with respect to the Commerce Clause”

Slavery to be reinstituted in America

I am not mincing words here so if you are easily offended, oh well. Have you ever heard of the American Civil war? Try a little harder, remember the really tall President with the funny beard back before there were cars and computers and people worked in factories and on farms? That war resulted in a part of the Constitution aptly known as the 13th Amendment. That Amendment was one of the most sweeping legislative works in American history. The 13th Amendment ended legal slavery in the former Confederate States of America.
Let me present this scenario: Lets say that a prominent national politician I proudly announce that I am going to support repealing the 13th amendment and legalizing slavery again, but this time slavery would not be restricted to people of a certain skin color or nationality. Would the American people accept such actions? How would the media react?I bet many of you have never read the 13th Amendment or the 14th Amendment that strengthened the 13th. Since this is such a major part of American History check it out really quickly. This is the basic version so it wont be so time consuming.

Amendment XIII.**

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Amendment XIV.***

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges

So, fast forward to 2010. Have you noticed a conflict between these Constitutional Amendments and the stellar redesign of our Healthcare system by the scrotum that occupies the Oval office, the plastic toy robot that is Squeaker of the House and the 140 year old Senate dictator?

Neither slavery, nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment of a crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. But, now if I don't buy scrotum's health insurance, the IRS can fine and imprison me without even due process as the IRS does not answer to any branch of our government. So, my Constitutional right to decide for myself what kind or how much insurance I want or need has been usurped. So has yours. What happened to equal protection under the law? The nutsack in the Oval office will not be bound by this legislation. Neither will his village idiot mouthpiece press secretary or Freddy Krueger...I mean Nancy Pelosi (they look so much alike I get them confused). So now you and you and me too are not equal citizens of the USA anymore. We now have a "tiered" citizenship where laws no longer even on paper apply to everyone equally. This is a huge step towards slavery for all. You and I no longer have say so over what we do or even what we buy. Given the fact that they are stripping our citizenship away, how long do you think your right to vote will last? Think about it: those now in power know they will be slaughtered in the next election. That is, unless we don't have one! Do you think that in the 20,000 pages of legislation passed since TARP, language could have been slipped into each of these laws that when added together could turn this country into a dictatorship with an executive order from the communist nutsack? That is the method that the USSR used to destroy the U.N. from within. Adolph Hitler pulled a similar power grab in the Weimar Republic by first gradually stripping rights, then burning the government building (the Reichstag) then removing the Prime Minister and declaring himself dictator and ending elections, all in a 48 hour period. Now you are probably thinking this crazy, conspiracy theory insanity, but since I have been doing this blog, I cant count how many times I have been told that a point made was tinfoil hat material only to see it happen months later. So do you like your chains and shackles in black or grey?

SO, THIS GREAT NEW HEALTH CARE PLAN THAT IS GOOD FOR YOU AND I... IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR OBAMA, HIS FAMILY OR CONGRESS...?
WE (THE AMERICAN PUBLIC) NEED TO STOP THIS PROPOSED DEBACLE ASAP !THIS IS TOTALLY WRONG !

IN ADDITION, A NUMBER OF SENATORS WERE ASKED THE SAME QUESTION AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS."WE WILL THINK ABOUT IT." 
AND THEY DID. IT WAS ANNOUNCED TODAY ON THE NEWS THAT THE "KENNEDY HEALTH CARE BILL" WAS WRITTEN INTO THE NEW HEALTH CARE REFORM INITIATIVE ENSURING THAT THAT CONGRESS WILL BE 100% EXEMPT ! 
SO, THIS GREAT NEW HEALTH CARE PLAN THAT IS GOOD FOR YOU AND I... IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR OBAMA, HIS FAMILY OR CONGRESS...?
WE (THE AMERICAN PUBLIC) NEED TO STOP THIS PROPOSED DEBACLE ASAP !THIS IS TOTALLY WRONG !

I combined her e-mail with a partial post and got exactly what I wanted to say. I will start by saying some of you may be thinking of giving up. If so, look at an American Flag, think about George Washington who lost 3/4ths of the battles he commanded in the Revolutionary war. Did he or his troops just quit? I will go a step further and warn you that if you give up, I will sick my pet leopard on you so don't even go there!!!! Trust me, she leaves scars when she scratches. So, now that we remember that this a war and last night was just one skirmish in one battle and there is still a huge fight ahead, what's next?
Fellow Americans,

1) Where we are at and 2) what we can do about it, nationally and locally:

1) They did it. They passed it.

Town Halls in August...they didn't listen.
1.7 Million people in Washington DC in September...they didn't listen
Phone, Fax, Emailing......they didn't listen.
Blogging....they didn't listen
More rallies, up until yesterday...they didn't listen.

Instead, we have heard the first shot at us, as Americans, not while we
are confronting the most powerful empire of the 18th Century, not on
Lexington Green but from within the halls of Congress last night.

Instead, the very personal freedom of our nation has been attacked, not by
the air by enemy forces of Japan while our ships are in Pearl Harbor, but
by Congress last night for all of us to see on CSPAN.

Instead, our financial structure has been attacked, not by JihadistMuslims who hijacked four planes on September 11, but by the vote heard
round the world when Congress, last night, has determined to destroy our
failing economy by placing a much larger tax burden on its citizens, all
the while taking away our freedom of control over our own persons and that
of our families.

2) What are we going to do about it?

1) Continue to call your Representative's office in DC, ask for the
scheduler and book a Town Hall for when they return to your District. We
will not go away. They will still hear from us.

2) They needed 216 votes. They obtained 219. It came down to 4 votes.
Currently, there are 4 Congressional Districts without Representatives.
Taxation without Representation.

Nationally, we need your help to obtain one more Conservative vote as thevery next election is April 13th. I am not kidding. Every vote matters
in this insane Congress. Email me that you will commit the next three
weeks to get Edward Lynch into office.

3) This week, conservative candidates running for Congress, who have
stepped up to plate to run against the current traitorous Congress, are on
a national deadline to obtain 4,000+ petitions to get their name on the
ballot. Find out who your conservative candidate is in your District,
call them up and help them obtain those petitions. That will save the
conservative movement $4,350,000. That is money we can use to
effectively fight against thee Progressives.

You decide, $4,350,000 to get conservatives on the ballot or to fight
against the Progressives who have set out to destroy our country.

4) Get in the game. How many of you are still reading and forwarding
emails? Get to your local Republican Executive Committee. There is no
patience for Democrats. Few Blue Dogs held the line. Stupak's block
should be tried as traitors. Let that be a lesson to us, there is no room
for compromise. Help the party that held the line.
How many Independents held the line in Congress? None. That translates
to no third party this year. You want to save your nation or do you want
to make a new sandbox to play in and be ineffective. Get in the game. Do
not waste your vote? Besides, in the primary, Independents have no say.

So what can we do next on the national scene to show them that by winning a battle, they have escalated this non-violent war and we will not simply lay down because the Botoxinator and "naked dead fish" Rahm bought a bunch of votes. Think about this one: if we keep up this kind of pressure or even better, ratchet up the pressure, the scumbags will run out of things to promise...or Pelosi will have to promise her botox dialysis machine and her skin will fall off revealing her inner Cylon.
Last summer, 2-3 million of went to DC for a day. That and all the tea parties and town halls weren't enough.
That was how the antiwar protestors started too, but when that didn't work, they went to DC and stayed hence the term "sit in." We need enough people to go to DC and surround Capitol Hill so they don't get in our out without "our courtesy." The 60s antiwar protestors put DC on lockdown for an entire summer. It got so bad, it made LBJ decide not to run for a second real term as President. If we coordinate with all those going to see Beck and Oreilly, or all the leaders that joined Karin to visit Michael Steele, people could go for a week and rotate in and out. I camped out in my front yard for 2 months after Hurricane Ivan. That was to protect my place from looters and we had no power so it was more comfortable. I believe a "sit in" is the only way that I can think of to make a bigger statement to politicians that this ain't over until they repeal the bill without resorting to unnecessary violence. When the part of this law calling for people to either buy insurance or go to jail, I will be the first one there as I will
never so much as lift a finger because Obama says I have to.

A Storm is coming...

Funny how things work with nature/God or whatever you believe in, but just as the vote to begin the dismantling of America was taking place, We had a nasty (for this time of year) storm. I thought it was quite timely to film for a post because there is a storm coming. It is a storm of angry Americans who for all practical purposes were called ignorant assholes who have no clue what is good for our lives or our future. Before the vote, I thought it was 50/50 whether obamahealthcaredestruction passed. Now I think it's 50/50 that we see a "significant" increase in violence as anger pointed at representatives who refused to listen to their bosses (The American People) turns to open rage.

*NOTE: I don't support violence, but as angry as I am over the passage of this bill, I have no doubt others are far IMG_0853 (iPhone & iPod) 4:29
to crossing that line, so I say...a storm is coming much like this one that I stood in and filmed while Pelotox spoke (I figured the lightning and hail were less dangerousbeliefs

My day with Ed Lynch

For those of you who don't know, I spent most of my Saturday volunteering to help the Ed Lynch for Congress (District 19) walk various neighborhoods, talking to residents and hanging door hangers on residences belonging to Republicans and Independents. I was impressed by Lynch and other volunteers who spent 6 hours continously walking door to door hanging door hangers and engaging the locals. We were extremely well recieved and most folks seem to be as unhappy with the affairs currently happening in DC as we are. What impressed me most of all was the fact that Ed Lynch was not in an office making phone calls, or barking orders to the workers like so many in congress do now. He was there doing just as much as anyone else. Those are the kind of people we need in DC, rather than those with the lowest IQ combined between 500 people anywhere in the world (with few exceptions). So I am reposting this endorsement by S.FL 9/12 to show my support for Ed Lynch who has always treated me with the utmost kindness:

The South Florida 9.12 Endorses Edward Lynch for Florida's 19th Congressional District

After performing much research and our due diligence, the leadership of the South Florida 9.12 has decided that Edward Lynch most represents our goals and ideals, and is the best choice to replace Robert Wexler in Florida's 19th Congressional District. We ask our membership to support his campaign in whatever way they can.

While there are many subjects on which our members disagree, there are a set of fundamental issues that have awakened us, united us, and driven us to act:

Out of control spending and fiscal irresponsibility of our government
TARP, Stimulus bills, bailouts, out of control debt and the deficit
Limits on the role of government and adherence to our Constitution
The various healthcare bills, cap & trade
Treating terrorists like enemy combatants, not like citizens
Civil trials instead of military tribunals for the planners of the 9/11 attacks
Miranda rights instead of interrogations for captured enemy combatants and terrorists
This endorsement is consistent with our mission statement, which calls us to:

Identify like-minded public servants already in office to help us move our agenda forward.
Identify like-minded candidates to replace those public servants that choose to block our agenda.
Encourage citizen interaction and involvement with these public servants to ensure their continued representation of our agenda.
In keeping with our goals, the leadership decided that it was important to consider all 3 candidates for the congressional seat after the primaries, and endorse the individual most able to move our agenda forward.

Senator Ted Deutch's positions on the issues - his support, in general, of the current administration's fiscal policies, his faith in perpetually increasing the size of government to solve our problems, as well as his endorsement by the prior Congressman Robert Wexler, and other like-minded individuals - led us to decide that his election would be a setback for our agenda.

The two remaining candidates are Jim McCormick and Edward Lynch. Both gentlemen have expressed comparable conservative positions on the key issues mentioned above, both in line with ours. While most of us knew Mr. Lynch and may or may not have supported him during the primary, we felt it was important to meet Mr. McCormick before committing ourselves to any candidate. Earlier this week, we met separately with both candidates and
evaluated them on the following criteria:

Knowledge of the issues
Ability to articulate why they were running and what they hoped to accomplish
Activism - what involvement had they had in the community, in the district and on the key issues
Campaign strategy - given the very abbreviated time remaining until the April 13 election - what were they going to do to mobilize the troops and gain support (volunteers, financial support, media etc) to get out the vote amongst affiliated and unaffiliated voters
Intensity - ability to devote the energy and time to win the seat.
We enjoyed meeting with Jim McCormick and would appreciate his future involvement in South Florida 912 activities. We believe he would make a fine public servant and should consider other competitive positions in the upcoming county and state elections. However the leadership was unanimous that Edward Lynch was the candidate that came closest to meeting our criteria, and had the best chance of winning the special election.

We've already made a difference in Palm Beach County, our state, and our nation, with the actions and activities that our group has participated in over the last year. The polarization of American politics

Today during a test drive to try out engine mods to my car, I was listening to GB on the radio. He had a very good point and almost danced around what I really wanted him to say. His point was, that there is no room in the Democrat party for "moderates" anymore as liberals have so much power within the Dem power structure that the libs can effectively push moderates into voting with liberals via threats over campaign funding, among many other things that I would prefer not to list.

On the other side, Republicans or Conservatives are backed so far into a corner that they are much like a cornered wild animal. (For those of you who don't know, don't corner wild animals!)

The Republicans are becoming increasingly "reactionary." They are being forced to move beyond our typical "center right" view of Republicans and and more towards the European style right wing parties a.k.a extremist. The problem is, in 2011, there will be a batch of very angry Republicans on a warpath to take revenge on the Democrats for their actions since 2006 and before. Much of this began when Bush won the electoral vote in 2000, and Dems swore revenge. This is a scenario where nobody wins. The Repubs under Bush, "bent' the rules in major ways, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for not. The Dems than came into power after Bush tossed the rule book out and are running the country far closer to a dictatorship than a representative Republic.

Question: When Republicans get in in 2010, will they be any different? They already showed that rules can be "bent" if it reaches the desired outcome. Now they will be in power without any rules at all. I find that to be slightly unnerving.

*Note: I am in no way comparing the current Republican party to the Nazi party of Adolph Hitler, I am simply making the point that Bolshevism, and National Socialism (Fascism under Hitler) were born out of situations where the people were faced with making exclusive choices between extremist points of view and if we continue on this path, we will be faced with similar choices sooner rather than later.

The polarization of American politics

Today during a test drive to try out engine mods to my car, I was listening to GB on the radio. He had a very good point and almost danced around what I really wanted him to say. His point was, that there is no room in the Democrat party for "moderates" anymore as liberals have so much power within the Dem power structure that the libs can effectively push moderates into voting with liberals via threats over campaign funding, among many other things that I would prefer not to list.

On the other side, Republicans or Conservatives are backed so far into a corner that they are much like a cornered wild animal. (For those of you who don't know, don't corner wild animals!)

The Republicans are becoming increasingly "reactionary." They are being forced to move beyond our typical "center right" view of Republicans and and more towards the European style right wing parties a.k.a extremist. The problem is, in 2011, there will be a batch of very angry Republicans on a warpath to take revenge on the Democrats for their actions since 2006 and before. Much of this began when Bush won the electoral vote in 2000, and Dems swore revenge. This is a scenario where nobody wins. The Repubs under Bush, "bent' the rules in major ways, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for not. The Dems than came into power after Bush tossed the rule book out and are running the country far closer to a dictatorship than a representative Republic.

Question: When Republicans get in in 2010, will they be any different? They already showed that rules can be "bent" if it reaches the desired outcome. Now they will be in power without any rules at all. I find that to be slightly unnerving.
