This is a first for us here at KOOK's. I have been given the opportunity to interview and throw my support behind Mike Lameyer, candidate for Florida State Senate District 27. This was not an opportunity that I took lightly. As most of our material has been nationally oriented, I had to immerse myself into local politics. I've had to get to know the issues that affect us on a day o day on the local level. Without doing so, I would have been totally unprepared for the upcoming Q&A session that I prepared for the candidate I am introducing. As far as the Q&A session went, I thought he was absolutely forthcoming. He answered every one of my questions while demonstrating an in depth knowledge of our legal system and our Constitution. While I cannot say that I would have necessarily answered every question identically, I can say that the questions were answered in a most honest and straightforward way, with legal and constitutional grounds given for each question. |
Candidate questions
Would you support defining atheism as a religion and support the separation of forced atheism in government agencies such as schools?
Yes and the courts have already defined atheism, as a religion therefore the teaching of such in the U S Education system should be banned.
Reff: A federal court of appeals ruled yesterday Wisconsin prison officials violated an inmate's rights because they did not treat atheism as a religion.
"Atheism is [the inmate's] religion, and the group that he wanted to start was religious in nature even though it expressly rejects a belief in a supreme being," the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals said.
B) However I must add and do believe that the Christian Bible and it’s relationship to the founding fathers creation of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution should be taught to all students. It happens to be the foundation of both United States Documents.
Where do you stand on earmarks? Would you support a State Constitutional Amendment banning such activities?
Earmarks should be banned period. Earmarks are payoffs for votes. Further more all bills should stand on there own merit and be voting on individually.
Where do you stand on the Okeechobee sugar farm deal and why?
A) The farm sugar deal won’t do much to clean up much of Lake Okeechobee since most all studies indicate that the majority of pollution entering the lake comes from the Northern Rivers and Lakes that feed into Lake Okeechobee. So it would appear as a money swap especially when the recipient of the money can lease the land back for $150.00 an acre to grow crops on. Bad Idea.
Where do you stand on the high-speed rail issue, if you are for it, why? If you are against it, do you have any thoughts on how we could put a stop to it?
The high-speed rail system and or bullet train issue is a waste of money and will cost Floridians millions in the future to pay for another failed public transportation system. Unfortunately there is not one single business model of a public transportation system ever making a profit ever. If put to a vote the idea would be rejected by Floridian’s.
B) Rout 80 from West Palm Beach to Fort Meyers Florida should have been turned into a divided highway years ago. The opening of an east west corridor would create long-term jobs in Bell Glade, Pahokee, Clewiston and other central Florida cities that currently suffer from a 40% unemployment rate.
How would you define yourself politically in comparison to Charlie Crist?
Do you think that his policies are good for the state?
Do you think he has been up front with Floridians about where he really stands on key issues?
First Charlie Crist could qualify as a Democrat based on many of his decisions. Example: Appointing Democrat replacements for political offices around the state of Florida.
Charlie Crist has no problem with earmarks or federal stimulus money I do.
As you know, with the Obama stimulus, there are strings attached that will be cause unfunded federal mandates in 2-3 years that will last forever.Where do you stand on such mandates, what would you do or support regarding this issue? Regarding previously mentioned unfunded stimulus based mandates, should Florida go to such lengths as suing the Federal Government for violation of Constitutional right to sovereignty under the Constitution?
A) Yes, because the Federal Government is Clearly in violation of state rights and creating unfounded debt for the state of Florida.
Where do you stand on the issue of illegal immigration, immigration reform?
A) Immigration law does not allow for sanctuary of any type. Any one found transporting or adding and abetting an Illegal alien is subject to fines and imprisonment. The Law must be enforced and employers must be fined so heavily that will not in anyway hire an illegal alien. If you take away the jobs there is no other reason to be in the United States Illegally. Any politician that declares a city and or area a sanctuary should be promptly arrested. Then last but not least all borders must be secured by whatever force is necessary police and or military
Will you sign on to the "in or out" petition supported by the 9/12 project (if you are unfamiliar with that, I will send you a copy)
A) I am a member of the 9/12 group West Palm Beach, Florida and have started my campaign blog on the 9/12 site. I fully support the 9/12 petition and ideals.
Do you support term limits, will you set a limitation for yourself on how many terms you will seek reelection for district 27 State Senate?
I do support term limitations and would limit my State Senate Terms to a maximum of three.
What questions did I not ask that you wish I would have asked, why, and how would you answer them?
A) Education: Florida is near the bottom on the overall education scale. The states that are number one focus on reading comprehension and Language skills. South Korea is now number one in the world for math and science skills. Eighteen years ago South Korea focused all efforts on reading comprehension and language skills knowing that if a student mastered language skills they could master most all other skills. When a teacher in Florida enters the class room the first day of a new school year and look’s at all those smiling little faces she comes to a sudden realization that 65% of those smiling little faces are not even close to being on grade level in reading comprehension skills. Then the teacher is expected to bring the entire class to skill level by the end of the year. ( Right ) The FCAT test should be stopped immediately. Education reform must include the discontinuing the NEA. Florida’s new focus on education must be on reading and language skills first, then math and science. Not everyone wants to go to college. Project based education is more valid today then ever before. Incomes for electricians, Plumbers, Skilled Carpenters, Construction Managers, Automotive Specialists are Substantial including a Culinary Chef and lest we forget Computer Technicians. These opportunities must be presented to students early and the drop out rate of high school students will substantially decrease.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how do you rate the following politicians and
why?
Barack Obama – 1 – Obama has and is demonstrating Fascists and Marxists ideals in his dealing with banks, auto manufacturing and Wall Street companies.
Charlie Crist – 5 – Crist has demonstrated very liberal attitude in decisions concerning Federal Money and mandates as though he wants most of all to fit in with the Washington power brokers.
Mitch McConnell – 7 – McConnell is trying to do a good job as a conservative. However we need men real men that will call a Marxists a Marxists.
Ron Paul – 8 – Paul is usually right on the mark with his ideas and thoughts. Paul needs to polish his presentation skills. If Paul would polish up he could get much more accomplished.
Joe Liebermann – 5 – Lieberman simply can’t be trusted to stick with any specific policy.
Marco Rubio –2- Rubio has stood in the way of state illegal alien enforcement. Rubio also was in favor of the bullet train construction not for jobs but for transportation purposes, bad idea.
Bill Nelson (D) FL – 2 – can’t be trusted to make any decision that is not liberal in nature. Will not support all the people but then how can he since he is a democrat.
George W. Bush – 5 – Bush started out as a strong conservative and in his second term started going soft on conservatism. When Bush hired Paulson and Bernanke he went to fare left with those choices and was coned into tarp one.
Lastly, as further issues emerge will you be willing to do further Q&As from time to time?Yes.
