The sleep tax used to be necessary when we were an agrarian culture and time in the evening was needed for young school children to work on the farms and harvest food. Of course now we are a modern society, with moral relevance and liberal social ideals where children know that they should not work for work is for those who seek profit and seeking profit unravels the very fabric and structure of our society.
