Last Saturday, DC works for US, led by Karin Hoffman organized 4 tea parties in the Ft. Lauderdale area alone celebrating the (debatable) one year anniversary of the movement. I guess it is accurate that the movement really started taking off about that time but I think it solidified as a movement on 9/12/09, when so many met in DC that the city was brought to it's knees.
After a year, I finally convinced my dad to come along and see what they are like. Here is his first ever blog post regarding his experiences at his first ever tea party protest. Understand that My Father is "not exactly long winded." This is much more than he usually has to say on an issue that he is new to.
"Having been around in the Vietnam war protest period when every one it seemed younger than 30 was out on the streets railing their cause, I was skeptical about attending a 1st anniversary protest (rally) on Saturday, February 27. Rather than finding a lot of hothead screaming individuals, there were at my location probably 100 Americans of all backgrounds, ethnicity's and ages displaying there signs and dress that expressed their displeasure over the reckless spending, taxing, lack of accountability and in your face disregard attitude toward the voting public by our elected leaders in Washington, D.C. Some were democrats, some were republications, but all seemed to say "get them out". I was very impressed by their
sincerity and peaceful determination.
I was also impressed by the number of driviers who passed and honked in support. Iwas not impressed by the number of one fingered IQ'rs, most of which were young males. Hey guys who do you think is going to have to pay on all of the debts our government is incurring?"

and we had a good strong wind to open up our flags, 
while some absolute freakin' moron played in the power lines,
Ben Franklin was both the oldest and most popular guy there.
He even had an original flag with him. He seems to think "it may be of some financial value"
Then out from under a park bench, Braveheart wandered in....
he was a bit confused at first, but once Ben filled him in as to what we were doing, he jumped right in...
And seemed to be having a good time.........

and Bravheart took to our custom of playing in traffic for fun rather quickly,
even KOOK's favorite truck was parked there too....
but strangely absent was BHO who was signing a peace treaty with some tin horned toad dictators.
